Oh sure, you can save it as a contact but what if you want to remember it on the fly or provide it to someone very quickly (without looking at anything?) Answer: Set up your own custom relay station. By owning your own domain name, you can create a custom e-mail address and then “point” that address to another address of your choosing. This makes it easy then to create a short and memorable address (e.g. note@customdomain.com) for e-mail you want forwarded to your Evernote default notebook. So when you are at that holiday party and someone mentions that they’ve got an article “you just have to read,” you can say, “Great … Send it to me at this address …”

Posted via email from todddoubleu’s posterous | Comment »

Posterous Gaining Traction

Posterous.com is definitely gaining traction. Experimenting tonight with how best to integrate it into the mix.

Posted via email from todddoubleu’s posterous | Comment »

Tag Triangulation

There is no doubt the search functionality of Evernote is the feature that catches the attention of many. The ability to successfully search for a needle in a digital haystack is incredibly appealing. With that said, the addition of tags to any item stored adds a level of richness to the data that can make future searches for information even more interesting and compelling. How many tags should be added to a given entry then? That’s the kind of question one wrestles with when they know they’re sitting on a huge productivity gain but don’t want to squander it on unnecessary keystrokes. Rather than rely on notebooks (and inevitably folders,) to sort information, the case being made here is for “tag triangultion.” That’s right. Three tags. No more. No less. While this seems fairly easy at face value, the process of adding them typically involves subtraction. And that perhaps, is where the additional value to your information is created.

"I find that a great part of the information I have was acquired by looking up something and finding..."

“I find that a great part of the information I have was acquired by looking up something and finding something else on the way.”

- Franklin P.
